Final Post

The lesson on Jimmy Lee Did it, was a great turn out for out first experience teaching with the role playing cards. My partner and I focused on the objective and the assessment being compatible. Then we made sure the procedure was clear. We also focused on who would be doing what in the lesson.
The objective of the lesson was to have students be able to recognize rhyming words by matching pairs of rhyming words. The assessment measure that was given was through a rubric.
The lesson plan for the most part was executed how we planned because we got to every part of the lesson, though there were a few curve balls with the behaviors that were presented.
The most important thing that was taught was the ability to recognize rhyming words. Overall I was pleased the way the lesson turned out because we got to every part of the lesson and though there were behaviors, we still managed to get things done. The only thing that I would do differently would be to have a no tolerance policy in the classroom with behavior.
My partner and I did not use the podcast in the lesson. We were the first to go so with all the anxiety we felt in the preparation, we forgot. But since we read the book twice during our lesson, one of those readings could have been replaced with the podcast. I really enjoyed how podcasting was used in other lessons, so I would definatley use it in my future classroom. It's something out of the ordinary so it really draws the attention of the students.

I really enjoyed participating in the other lesson plans in the classroom. Overall the lessons were full of great ideas. The only thing that was a major problem was the behavior of the class. It was hard to see what the objective of some of the lessons were because it was hard to keep students focused and the noise level down.
One I learned during these lessons, was to always be firm with students so that behavior isn't too much of a problem, and if there still is behavior a teacher has to be very patient with the students.
