Lesson Plan set-up

After Julia and I decided that we were going to do our objective on rhyming words, we began to look for lesson plans that could help us. There weren't any lesson plans specifically for Jimmy Lee Did It, but we found a lot of other sites that gave you general ideas for a lesson plan based on rhyming. We re feeling a lot more confident about the lesson now. We started coming of with activities to do with the class through out the lesson. We are also trying to come up with a perfect assessment for the objective. We are either going to have a rubric for the worksheet we hand out to the class, or an answer key for the teacher to go with the worksheet.
We're looking at all the possibilities. We are meeting up next tuesday to bring the whole lesson together and practice presenting it all to the class.

Lesson Plan

Today we were given the option to do our lesson plan together with our partners. Julia and I decided to take the offer so that way we could have a good start on the lesson plans we will be doing through out the semester. We figured it would serve as good practice and we could get a feel for how it would be. I am a bit nervous because we still don't know what we want our objective to be. It's a mystery book but we don't know how we're going to incorporate that into an educational lesson.
Though at the same time I am a bit excited to get up in front of the class and pretend to be a teacher. :)

Jimmy Lee Did It-- Mission Complete

The Podcasting was a success. Though we had a few bumps in the road in the beginning because our first microphone wasn't working. We realized this after we thought we recorded the story, which we ran through with no mistakes, so we had to switch computers. When we recorded the second time the noise in the classroom was too loud so we had to wait and record it again a third time. Though we ended up having to record our fourth and final time because we couldn't stop laughing the third time. Over all it was a success and we had loads of fun recording.
We ran through it with the book and it sounded great. I know that if we were to present this to a class, the students would love it.

Jimmy Lee Did it!

Today will be recording the actualy story. We have practiced the rythm that the books is read so this will hopefully be a breeze, and we won't have to keep rerecording. I'm excited to see the turn out of our final result. It's great to imagine a group of students listening to the postcast when we hear it. The title of our story is Jimmy Lee Did it. It's a mystery story so we will try to sound myterious as we read. We decided to take turns reading each page.

Pre-Poscasting

Today we are recording the questions for our story Jimmy Lee Did It. We are unable to record the story because we forgot the book, but we are going to make the best of our time and do everything else that needs to be done, so next time we are able to record the story. We will have more time to practice reading the book for next time to be able to record it right away.
For today we decided to come up with questions to ask about the book.

Podcasting Day :)

I am here in the computer lab in Pope with my Teaching Language class. We're working on our podcasts! So far it seems pretty easy to work. I was a bit skeptical at first about how convenient it was going to be for a teacher to use. Though it turned out to be great.
Julia Marte is my partner for Podcasting, so we created a website together.

Podcasting

Podcasting appears to be a great way to add flavor to a typical classroom routine such as reading a book to the students. Though I am not too familiar with it, it seems to be a prefect way to incorporate technology while at the same time engage students in a different way. They may pay more attention to a recording of the voice because they want to keep up with the words. This is a great way to build their vocabulary. I hope to gain more knowledge on the topic in order to be able to use it in my future classroom.
